Janet E. Longenecker, 73, of East Freedom, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at home. She was born June 1, 1944 in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Donald I. Grabill and Rita C. (Beigle) Aungst. She was formerly married to Ronald Duane Blackburn and John R. Longenecker.
Surviving are her companion of over thirty years Don Shock, two daughters Robin Stern and husband Brian of Roaring Spring and Maureen Socie of East Freedom, a grandson Ryan Hostler, three step-granddaughters Natasha Etzweiler, Kara and Sierra Stern and a half brother Mark Aungst. She was preceded in death by a brother Donald L. Grabill.
Janet was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg. She was employed at Sheetz in McKee for 27 years and as a waitress at the Old Canal Inn for 45 years.
She was a member of the Central High School Class of 1962. She was an avid Hallmark Christmas Ornament collector.
Janet was one of the first female drag racers at Peterson Memorial Dragway, Tipton in the 1970’s.
Friends will be received form 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 18, 2018 with Pastor John Godissart officiating. Interment at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Mending Hearts or the Blair County Humane Society.
