Martha Yeckley

Martha Yeckley, 94. a resident at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Duncansville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday January 20, 2018 at the home. She was born April 26, 1923 in Duncansville, daughter of the late John W. and Linnie E. (Chamberlain) Hicks. She married Glenn F. Yeckley on November 12, 1941 in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2009. She spent her life as a devoted mother and wife who served in ministry alongside Pastor Yeckley for 26 years at Foot of Ten Bible Church.

Surviving are daughters Dorothy (Lee) Damon of Manheim; Glenna (Thomas)Miller of Duncansville; Elaine (Brian) Williams of Meadville; and sons Samuel (Carol) of Morrisdale and Mark (Barbara) of Ontario. She and Glenn had 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren 5 great-great grandchildren who are serving the Lord in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana; Ontario, Canada and Chad, Africa. She is also survived by a sister Wilma Shaw and a brother Percy Hicks and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Robert “Bobby”, sisters Helen Stepp and Dorothy Johnston, a brother Francis “Tack” Hicks and half sisters Mary Boyles and Emma Yeckley.

Martha was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of the Puzzletown Road Bible Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Friends will be received Thursday January 25 from 6-8 P.M. at the Puzzletown Road Bible Church, 361 Puzzletown Road, Duncansville, PA 16635. Friends will be received on Friday January 26, 2018 from 1 P.M. until the 2 P.M. Funeral service at the church with Pastors Jon Gross, Lynn Johnston and Lee Damon officiating. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
