Mildred "Millie" R. Wright

Mildred "Millie" R. Wright, 96, formerly known as Mildred Kimmel, passed away peacefully Monday, January 1, 2018, after an extended illness at Homewood in Martinsburg, PA.  Mildred was born on April 12, 1921, to the late Glenn E. and Ethel Smith Burket, but was raised by her paternal grandparents, the late Watson and Clara Burket of Claysburg.

Mildred was married to Ross W. Kimmel from January 3, 1939, to the date of his death on October 10, 1975.  On May 18, 1985, Mildred married Kermit Wright of Claysburg, who remained her loving and devoted husband until the time of his death in June 2012. 

She is survived by her son, Gary Kimmel of Tyrone, PA, and his wife, Sandy; and her two daughters, Linda McGlathery of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Eileen Kimmel of Dover, DE.  She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mildred was a member of the United Church of Christ in Claysburg.  After graduation from Claysburg High School, she graduated from the Altoona Hammond Beauty School, after which she owned and operated her own beauty shop until 1956.  In the following years, until her retirement in 1985, she was employed with Veeder-Root in Duncansville. 

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family, with interment at the Carson Valley Cemetery.
