Michael J. Musselman Sr., 78, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Saturday April 13, 2024 at the home. He was born October 4, 1945, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Palmer E. and Zeda L. (Flaugh) Musselman. He married Susanne P. Patterson on September 20, 1967 in Cumberland, MD and she preceded him in death on March 1, 2024.
Surviving are three children Kelly Musselman, Debra Foor and husband Thomas and Michael Musselman Jr. and wife Suzanne, four grandchildren Nicholas Foor and wife Brooke, Andrew Foor and James and Alice Musselman, a brother Jerry L. Musselman and wife Sandy and brother-in-law Paul Lightner. He waspreceded in death by a sister Donna J. Lightner.
Mr. Musselman was a 1964 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. A 1968 graduate of Pennsylvania State University and received his Masters from Syracuse University. He retired as a teacher in 2005 after 37 years of teaching, 36 of those years at Claysburg-Kimmel. He also spent 12 years teaching evening classes at Penn State-Altoona and adult GED classes at Claysburg.
Michael was an active member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, where he served as Deacon, Treasurer and Worship Leader.
He enjoyed teaching, his church work and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday April 16, 2024 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg and from 11 A.M. until the noon funeral service on Wednesday April 17, 2024 at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren with Pastor Alan Brumbaugh officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
