Norman “Russell” Wilt, 91, a resident at The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of East Freedom, passed away Thursday March 7, 2024 at the home. He was born May 16, 1932, in McKee, son of the late Samuel and Edith (Caswell) Wilt. He married Marilyn K. Acker on January 12, 1963 in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1992.
Surviving is a daughter Brenda Treece (Stephen) of Curryville, a son Timothy (Kristi) Wilt of Johnstown, four grandchildren Stephanie Myers (William), Dustin Wilt (Jessica), Nicole and Mya Wilt, two great granddaughters Ella Myers and Delaney Wilt, a sister Erdene Hoover and a special niece Lisa Harp.
Russell was a 1950 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, after more than 40 years of employment.
Russell was a member of the McKee United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Roaring Spring, Jaffa Shrine and Motor Corps and the American Legion, Roaring Spring. He was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan and enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 1 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom, with Pastor Stephen Durr officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Garver Memorial YMCA, 819 Grove St. Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
