Arthur W. “Art” Hoenstine, 82, of East Freedom, passed away Tuesday Oct. 16, 2018 at the Village at Morrison Cove. He was born July 27, 1936 in Queen, son of the late Jesse and Sarah (Dellinger) Hoenstine. He married Nancy Jean Weyandt on July 28, 1956 in Cumberland, MD. She passed away February 9, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters Cathy J. Helsley and husband Galen of Imler and Debbie S. Jacobs and husband Kevin of Colver and two sons Terry W. Hoenstine and wife Beth of Imler and Michael J. Hoenstine and wife Penny of Osterburg. Also surviving are the following grandchildren and great grandchildren Heather Paris (Mark) and children Isabella and Grayden, Bruce Helsley (Kyla) and son Dylan, Erin Dennis (Justin) and children Kenley, Presley and Brooklyn, Kendra Myers (Cory) and son Jackson, Lauren Fulton (Danny) and children Brooke, Lexi and Connor, Linsey Donnelly and son Bo, Hunter Hoenstine (Stephanie Imler) and Shawn, Tyler and Calvin Jacobs and special friends Merdy Doland and Darrell Smith.
Art was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amanda Hoenstine and siblings Janet Moses, Phyllis Cox, Barry, Harold and Kenneth Hoenstine.
Art retired in 1998 as a furnace operator from Small Tube Products after 28 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite drivers were Bill and Chase Elliot. He enjoyed hunting, football, baseball and spending time with his family.
Art was the last surviving member of the Big Bad John Hunting Club, Cameron County.
Friends will be received Friday October 19, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 20, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Interment at Greenfield Cemetery.
