Betty Mae Nale

May 2, 1921 ~ September 2, 2019 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Betty Nale Arrrangement

Heaven gained another beautiful angel as Betty Mae Nale, 98 peacefully left this life at the Presbyterian Village on September 2, 2019. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Betty was born on May 2, 1921, the daughter of George and Annie (Dodson) Glass.  She was married for 67 happy years to her devoted husband Regis, who passed away in 2014. Claysburg was her home for many years until she had to relocate to the Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Village.

Surviving are children Gregory, Clare Arndt, Regis Jr., Rose Martin, Reed, Gerard and their spouses, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Regis, son Douglas, brothers and sisters, Alexander, James, Joseph, Samuel, Calvin, Ella Marie, Verna (Bun), Leo, Jacob, Mary, Nellie and Thomas.

Betty graduated from Greenfield Township High School in 1941 and in her early years worked in the Claysburg Post Office and A&P before marrying Regis and raising a family.

Betty was a Loving Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who deeply loved her family and was most comfortable hustling around the house in her apron readying big wonderful meals for her guests. A family favorite was her turkey dinners and especially her stuffing.

Regis and Betty spent many hours volunteering for the VITA program and were members of the Chimrock Square Dancers Group for numerous years where Betty’s talents as a seamstress were known to all. She and Regis had an outfit for every occasion.

Playing “Mrs. Santa” along with “Santa Regis” was an enjoyable part of her senior years.

Patience, persistence, determination, a strong work ethic and just a bit of stubbornness were traits that Betty passed down to her children. Getting the task at hand done quickly and well were of the utmost importance. Quitting was never an option for Betty.

Betty was a caring and kind person who was willing to help others at any time. She was nonjudgmental and was accepting of everyone and whatever came her way without question or complaint.

Her quirky sense of humor was appreciated by all-around her. She would say the darndest things that would have everyone laughing and shaking their heads.

She will be missed by many.
