Catherine Marie Corle

Catherine Marie (Lindsey) Corle, 94, of Osterburg, passed away Monday February 11, 2019 at Nason Hospital. She was born October 13, 1924 in Pavia, daughter of the late Elmore Eugene and Mary Ann (Corle) Lindsey. On June 27, 1942 in Jacksonville, FL, she married Donald Schubert Corle. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1975, ending a marriage of 33 years.

Surviving are three sons Donald K. Corle and wife Patsy of Damascus, MD, Frederick D. Corle and wife Karen of Erie and Timothy D. Corle and wife Carrie of Osterburg, five grandchildren Shawn Granoff (Mark), Ryan Corle (Sara), Joshua Corle (Ashley) Lindsey Edwards (Tanner) and Andrew Corle, five great grandchildren Hannah and Sarah Granoff, Annie and Charlie Corle and Riley Corle, and two sisters-in-law Arlene and Doris Lindsey. She was preceded in death by five brothers Bruce (Edna), Clair, Clarence (Betty), Lee and Paul Lindsey.

Marie was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Reformed Church of Pavia, where she served as an Elder, Board member and member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a proud 1942 graduate of Bedford High School and retired as a cook from the Chestnut Ridge School District after 16 1/2 years of service. She also cooked for several years at the Boy Scout Camp in Blue Knob.

Marie was a great cook and her cinnamon and dinner rolls were outstanding. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and braiding rugs.

Marie was the matriarch of her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Friends will be received from 2-6 P.M. on Sunday February 17, 2019 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 18, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Zion Reformed Church of Pavia with Pastor Timothy Mock officiating. Interment at Pavia Cemetery.
