Daniel T. Sheasley, 79, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Roaring Spring, passed away Friday November 2, 2018 at the home. He was born August 28, 1939 in Sharon, son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Richards) Sheasley. He married Marlene Kelley on February 23, 2001.
Surviving are his wife of Roaring Spring, a daughter Christina K. Hileman of Huntington, 4 step children, 4 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Walter Jr. and Richard Sheasley and a sister Dian Montgomery.
Dan was a graduate of Sharon Senior High School. He retired as a machinist from Consolidated Rail in 2001 and was previously employed at Veeder Root.
He was in the U.S. Army for 10 years and served as a platoon sergeant during the Vietnam War. Dan was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifleman Badge.
Dan was a member the Duncansville V.F.W. and the American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors in general, traveling and classical music.
Friends will be received Tuesday November 6, 2018 from noon until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service, at Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom, with Mr. Jerry Clapper, officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
