Gerald A. Black, 77, of East Freedom, passed away Friday June 21, 2019 at UPMC-Shadyside. He was born September 5, 1941 in McPherson, KS son of the late George A. and Marjorie (Kline) Black. He married Anna Lee Leydig on January 6, 1976 in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Surviving are his wife, 3 daughters Janeane Bower of Williamsburg, Laura Jo Wachala (Tod) of Houtzdale and Colleen Bard (Bob) of Lakemont, 2 step children Joe Turner (Patty) of Bellwood and Kelly Lynn Corson (Bobby Rhyne) of Glendale, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 sisters Mary Rothrock, Gail Perrault (George), Georgene Van Derhoof (Ron) and Kathy Galon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son George Arthur Black.
Jerry was a member of the Puzzletown Road Bible Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Westminster High School in Colorado. He served a two year apprenticeship and was then employed at the Denver Pipefitter Union Local 208, until his retirement in 1998.
Jerry enjoyed reading, walking, hiking and traveling.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday June 26, 2019 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Puzzletown Road Bible Church with Pastor Jon Gross officiating. Interment at Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.
