Jack A. Hoenstine, 87, of Queen, passed away Sunday October 14, 2018 at Homewood at Martinsburg. He was born September 20, 1931 in Queen, son of the late Miles and Mary (Burket) Hoenstine. He married Elsie R. Fickes on April 24, 1958 in Winchester, VA. She passed away June 21, 2009. He then married Helen Little on October 8, 2011 in Lewisville.
Surviving are his wife of Queen, a step-son Gary Fickes and wife Val of Edgewood, NM and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Merle, Melda, Dessie, Chester, Reba, Rhoda and Phil.
Jack was a 1949 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He retired as a truck driver from Ward Trucking in 1997, and was previously employed at Lafferty Trucking and owned and operated his own truck.
He was a member of the Bedford Moose, a social member of the Bedford American Legion and the Ward Retirees Club.
Jack was an avid NASCAR fan and attended the Darlington 500 for 66 consecutive years and was a regular attendee at Dover and Charlotte. He attended an average of 10 races a year for many years.
Jack was featured in the book The Weekend Starts on Wednesday: True Stories of Remarkable NASCAR Fans. He also enjoyed football, baseball and hunting.
Friends will be received Thursday October 18, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Rd. Imler, PA 16655. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday October 19, 2018 at the church with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment at Greenfield Cemetery.
