Karl Kaufman, 92, of Alum Bank, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 1, 2019. He was born in Johnstown to the late Howard and Naomi (Barndt) Kaufman.
On July 16, 1948, he married Rena Yoder. In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Karen (Stig) Larson, Aaron Kaufman, Darlene (Anthony) Scarcella, Kathleen “Kate” (Jayson) Kriedler, Irene (Jeff) Beutman, Chris Kaufman and Jay (Heather) Kaufman, brother Neil (Joan) Kaufman, son-in-law Jeff Hartman, 17 -grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Karl was preceded in death by a brother Glenn Kaufman, son Dan Kaufman, daughter Cheryl Hartman, son-in-law Emil Williams and grandson Brett Williams.
He served 2 years in the U.S. Army during WWII as a radio operator in Germany. He worked as a carpenter, farmer and sheep-shearer. He traveled to South America 14 times as a volunteer construction worker and enjoyed singing barber shop music with friends, weaving on his loom and best of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Ryot Church of the Nazarene and volunteered at Love, Inc.
Private interment was held at Mock Cemetery.
