Kay Larue Walter, 83, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Claysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 12, 2018. She was born April 7. 1935 in Claysburg, daughter of the late Herman “Gillie” and Jean (Musselman) Feather. She married Arthur D. “Pete” Walter on April 23, 1962. He passed away on July 14, 2009.
Surviving are her son Kent wife Mary (Berkhimer) Walter: beloved grandchildren Rachel and Reid: and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert “Gillie” Feather.
A 1953 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School, Kay was a proud Bulldog all her life. Following graduation, she worked for a number of years in the offices of Dr. Edward Schultz.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great pride in every endeavor of her grandchildren. She rarely missed a ball game, concert, of performance of any kind. She had a passion for sports at every level and thoroughly enjoyed talking to others who shared that passion. A member of the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren for many years, in her younger days Kay taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was a youth leader. She was also a longtime Red Cross blood drive volunteer.
The Claysburg community, its history, and its people were near and dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received from 5- 8 P.M. on Saturday April 14, 2018 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg and on Sunday April 15, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service at the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren, with Pastor John Winesickle officiating. Interment at Lower Claar Cemetery.
