Marie Claar

Marie Claar, 76, of Claysburg, passed away Tuesday May 1, 2018 at UPMC-Altoona. She was born March 8, 1942 in Woodbury, daughter of the late Leroy and Alberta (Frederick) Whitfield.

Surviving are a daughter Christina Jenkins (Bob) of East Freedom, sons Joe Crawford of Claysburg and Shawn Claar of Huntingdon, 6 grandchildren, a sister Janet Snyder (Paul) of New Enterprise and brothers Clarence Whitfield (Myrtle) of Honey Brook and Herbert Whitfield (Peggy) of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Claar and two sons John and Steven Crawford.

Marie was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren. She retired as a machine operator from Cove Shoe in 2000 after 43 years of service. She enjoyed baking, taking care of her home and spending time with her grandkids.

Friends will be received Friday May 4, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until the 6:00 P.M. memorial service at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren with Pastor David Maxwell officiating.
