Milton J. Hinkledire Jr., 82, of Claysburg, passed away Sunday March 17, 2019 at home. He was born August 10, 1936 in Portage, son of the late Milton J. and Josephine M. (Mills) Hinkledire. He married Nancy J. Medasia on October 17, 1975. She passed away September 10, 2018.
Surviving are 4 children Johnny Hinkledire (Colleen) of Duncansville, Bobby Hinkledire (Karen) of Altoona, Sandy Hinkledire of Manns Choice and Amy L. Rishel (Kip) of Claysburg, a step daughter Brenda J. Helsel (Joe) of East Freedom, 10 grandchildren April LaMarche (Sean), Andrea Weyandt (Barry) Jeremy Helsel (Beth), Joey Helsel, Timothy Helsel (Olivia), Kylie Redinger (D.J. Holland), Keysha Clark (Patrick), Jo Hinkledire, Zachary Markel (Amy) and Alex Markel, 22 great grandchildren, a sister Janet Knisely, sister-in-law Anna Mae Hinkledire and a brother-in-law Wayne Medasia (Sue). He was preceded in death by a sister Jean and brothers Harold, Cecil “Bert”, and James.
Milton was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren. He retired from General Refractories, Claysburg and also operated an auto repair shop for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed going to gospel sings and the diner, watching John Wayne movies and being in his garage.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday March 20, 2019 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday March 21, 2019 at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren with Pastor David Maxwell officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
