Robert B. Penner, 65, of Bedford, was welcomed home by the Lord unexpectedly on Thursday August 1, 2019. He was born on April 10, 1954 in Windber, son of the late Russell Philip and Lois (Satzinger) Penner. He married Nancy L. Johnson on March 29, 1980 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Johnstown.
Surviving are his wife of Bedford, two sons Russell and wife Amy of Berkley Springs, WV and Tyler of Philadelphia and a granddaughter Zoey. He was preceded in death by a sister Diane Sponsler.
Robert was a 1972 graduate of Everett High School, a 1976 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a degree in economics, a 1977 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he received his MBA and a 1997 graduate of St. Francis University where he received his master’s degree in science and human resource management.
Bob worked for First Miss Steel, Kennametal, Geneva College, Allegeny College of MD, and since 2008 he served as the Pastor of the Greenfield Charge of the United Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling, canine sports and training, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Friends will be received on Monday August 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg with Pastor Mary Hendricks officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown at 1:30 P.M Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Greenfield Charge at P.O. Box 428, Claysburg to continue the mission in his absence.
