Shirley J. McCarty, 82, of Claysburg, passed away Sunday September 23, 2018 at the home of her daughter. She was born September 7, 1936 in Altoona, daughter of the late James and Louise (Weyant) Chamberlain. She married Thomas O. McCarty on February 22, 1955 in Winchester, VA. He passed away on May 20, 2014.
Surviving are three daughters Tami Clinich of Claysburg, Tonya Dillon and husband Rick of Roaring Spring and Tommi Lyn Burk of Claysburg and 5 grandchildren Katelynn Clinich, Brock and wife Sarah and Matthew Dillon and Alyssa and Paige Burk. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law Mark Burk and brothers Richard and Carl Chamberlain.
Shirley was a member of the Claysburg Bible Church where she also sang in the choir. She was a 1954 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. She retired as a machine operator from Blank Book in 2015 after 25 years of service and was previously employed at Loungeray and Butterick.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with and supporting her grandchildren’s endeavors.
Friends will be received Thursday Sept. 27, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, where the Funeral Service will be held Friday September 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment at Sproul Cemetery.
