Anna Jean “Peggy” Piper, 96, of Queen, passed away Saturday July 10, 2021 at home. She was born September 4, 1924, in Imler, daughter of the late Russell C. and Edith F. (Langham) Knisely. She married Irvin D. Piper on November 29, 1947 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2001.
Surviving is a son Joey D. Piper and wife Janelle (Mauk), a daughter Jan Vogel, a loving caring son Carey Langham, former son-in-law Dave Vogel, 6 grandchildren Stacey Weyandt, Lindsay Hanlon, Alexis Caldwell, Amanda Ashour, Abram Piper and Paul Lancos and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Irvin C. Piper and a brother Charles Curtis Knisely.
Peggy was a 1942 graduate of Claysburg High School and then went to beauty school and had a shop in her home for over fifty years.
She was a member of the Queen United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Jr. Choir Director and was a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a lifetime member of Ladies of the Moose in Bedford.
Peggy enjoyed sitting on Carey’s porch, going out to eat, going for ice cream and shopping for bargains.
Friends will be received from 1-8 P.M. on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 14, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Interment at Greenfield Cemetery, Imler.
