Dr. Edward D. Schultz, 86, of Claysburg, passed away Wednesday September 13, 2023 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born July 23, 1937, in Altoona, son of the late Dr. Edward J. and Maxine (Wagner) Schultz. He married Bonita R. Dodson on September 16, 1960 in Pittsburgh.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter Tamara Ann Claycomb and husband Brent Diehl of Bedford, a son Michael D. Schultz and wife Aimee of Westminster, MD, 4 grandchildren Zachary, Hannah, Maxwell, and Alex, 3 great grandchildren Adelynn, Walter and Louis. A brother Dr. J. Dennis Schultz and wife Shirley of Kissimmee, FL, a nephew Brian Schultz (Beth) and a niece Amy Schultz (Jack Hatley).
Dr. Schultz graduated from Altoona Catholic High School in 1955, St. Vincent College in 1959 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1963. He entered practice with his father in 1964 and retired in 1994 from Claysburg Medical Associates, and was a member of the American Medical Association.
Ed was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Newry. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of Iron Masters Country Club.
Ed was an avid University of Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed attending basketball and football games.
After retirement he and Bonnie traveled as much as they could, always researching and planning the best trips for everyone. He was always the life of the party at any social event and was first to volunteer when anyone needed anything. Mostly he loved spending time with family and planning the next adventure.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Friday September 15, 2023, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday September 16, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Newry, with Father Allen P. Zeth, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claysburg Area Public Library.
