Edward L. Mohney, 87, a resident of Fair Winds Skilled Nursing Home, Sarver, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Friday November 5, 2021 at the home. He was born February 8, 1934 in Clearfield, son of the late Jack and Florence (Long) Mohney. He married Neva Dawne Robison onFebruary 17, 1957 in Roaring Spring.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, of Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a daughter Gwenna Heffner and husband James of Freeport, two sons Kyle Mohney and wife Janice of Coplay and Troy Mohney and wife Lora of Lingelestown, eight grandchildren Zachary, Mara, Ian, Alexanderia, Ryan, Darren, Joshua and Nelson and seven great grandchildren Landon, Lorelei, Daisy, Rylee, Ava, Tyler and Abby. He was preceded in death by two brothers Terry and John Mohney.
Ed was a 1952 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and attended Juniata College, where he played football. He also played semi pro football for the Portage Bulldogs and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska.
Ed retired from Appleton Papers after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Wopsononoch Archery Club, Three Valley Sportsmen’s Association and was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, being outdoors, birdwatching, animal calls and his dogs. Ed also loved the Lord.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service on Wednesday November 10, 2021 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg with Pastor Erik Lingenfelter officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
