Gary B. “Turk” Wertz, 70, of Roaring Spring, passed away Friday March 18, 2022 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born September 22, 1951 in Altoona, son of Flo (Knisely) Zupon and the late Jack Wertz. He married Beatrice “Beatty” Meiser on May 4, 1974 in Hollidaysburg.

Surviving is his wife of Roaring Spring, his mother of Hollidaysburg, two sons Dan Wertz of Roaring Spring and Michael Wertz and wife Terra of Altoona, six grandchildren Zoey Weyandt, Lily, Liam, Norah, Noelle and Avigail Wertz, a brother Palmer Knisely and wife Jane of King and a nephew Caleb Knisely.

Turk was a 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired as night manager from Giant Eagle, Roaring Spring in 2019 and was previously employed at Leighty’s Farm Market for over 20 years.

He enjoyed flea markets, baseball, football, collecting sports cards and spending time and fishing with his grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
