Guy H. Black Jr., 74, of Imler, passed away Friday April 29, 2022 at UPMC-Shadyside. He was born July 21, 1947 in Roaring Spring son of the late Guy Sr. and Dessie (Hoenstine) Black. He married Mary Hainsey September 26, 1964 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, a son Terry and fiancé Tina, two daughters Lori Ickes and husband Todd and Lisa Platon and husband Jim, three grandchildren Chelsea Glotfelty (Eric), Kelsey Eckman (Matthew) and Tyler Ickes, step granddaughter Stephanie Platon and three great great grandchildren Madelyn, Carter and Sophia.
Guy was a 1965 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School where he was a member of FFA and served as President. He worked as a poultry farmer for over 40 years, ending in 2009, and was also manager of the Bedford American Legion for 10 years and a truck driver for T L Black Trucking.
Guy was a member of the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren, a Charter Member of the Sons of American Legion Post 113, member of Free and Accepted Masons Bedford Lodge 320 and the Claysburg Farm Show.
He enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing. For many years, he served on various dirt track pit crews and most recently enjoyed going with his brother-in-law to support his nephew. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and family, and those special hunts with his grandson Tyler.
Guy loved to tell stories about his life, adventures, trips and all of his experiences along life’s way. While a poultry farmer/delivery driver and truck driver, he made many friends along the way that he treasured dearly.
His favorite times were those spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He was so excited to be a great great grandfather “Pap” to precious Madelyn.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday May 3, 2022 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg and from 10-11 A.M. Wednesday May 4, 2022 at the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 4, 2022 at the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren with Pastor John Winesickle officiating. Interment at Greenfield Cemetery, Imler.
