Herbert P. Carn, 94, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Monday April 26, 2021 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born February 28, 1927 in Claysburg, son of the late William F. and Edna (Lee) Carn. He married Lois E. Delozier on August 20, 1955 at Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2015.
Surviving are three sons Fredrick of Hollidaysburg, Brian and wife Beth Ann of Middletown and Wayne and wife Jannie of Hollidaysburg, grandchildren Lauren Thackara, Melissa, Timothy, Ethan, Jacob, Ellie and Jack Carn, Jerry Xu, Sam Yang and Benjamin and Ephraim Wengerd and great grandchildren Marshall and Noelle Thackara. He was preceded in death by twin sisters Virginia and Madaline and brothers Eugene, Robert M., W. Fred and Donald L. Carn.
Herb was a 1945 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII and Korea. He retired as Vice President of Central Pennsylvania National Bank in 1984.
Herb was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He served on the Claysburg School Board and enjoyed fishing, clock repair, carpentry and building.
Friends will be received on Sunday May 2, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. and Monday May 3, 2021 from 9 A.M. until the 10:00 A.M. funeral service at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Pastor Sean McGill officiating. Interment at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.
