Irvin W. Bridges Sr., 95, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Sunday September 20, 2020 at the home. He was born September 7, 1925 in Cumberland, MD, son of the late Samuel and Mary (Burkett) Bridges. He married Betty L. Eicher April 8, 1948 in Cumberland, MD. She passed away April 28, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter Deborah McCarty and husband Wayne of East Freedom, a son Irvin Bridges Jr. and wife Wanda of Claysburg, 4 grandchildren, Crystal, Rena, Wayne Jr. and Kristy and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by great grandchildren Adalyn and Bryson and brothers George and Francis Bridges.
Irvin was a member of the Claysburg Church of the Brethren. He retired as a foreman from Champion Home Builders in 1992 and was previously employed at General Refractories. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and was a member of the Claysburg American Legion and V.F.W.
Irvin enjoyed walking, spending time with his family and hanging out at Brady’s Service Station.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday September 23, 2020 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday September 24, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Bashore officiating. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Leamersville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Claysburg Church of the Brethren.
