James O. McDonald, 64, of Claysburg, died from complications of Covid-19 on Monday December 6, 2021 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born on March 28, 1957 at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, son of Fred and Shirley (Musselman) McDonald.
He was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren and married Lonie Mae Snoberger there on October 19, 1987.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America program. While in high school he worked part time at Zeigler Chevrolet and the Blair County Airport. After graduation he was employed at Small Tubes and later as a logger with his dad.
He developed a great interest in farming after spending a large portion of his youth with his grandparents Clair and Florence Musselman on their family farm. When his grandparents passed away, Jim and his dad, purchased the family farm, raising beef cattle and numerous vegetables.
He enjoyed a trip to Canada to hunt boar with his school buddy Ronnie Weyandt, Sr. and hunted locally with his good friends Bill Thompson and Bill Rininger Jr.
His marriage was never blessed with any children but he had a great fondness for his black lab “Buddy”
Friends will be received from 2 P.M. until the 5:00 P.M. funeral service on Sunday December 12, 2021 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg with Pastor David Maxwell officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren or the charity of choice.
