Jane L. Feather-Black, 76, Altoona, passed away Friday April 27, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born on August 1, 1941 in Claysburg, daughter of the late John G. and Betty J. (Freeman) Medasie. On Jan 14, 1961, she married Irvin M. Feather. He passed away Dec. 29, 1999. She then married Ernest S. Black Jr. on Aug. 14, 2004, and he passed away April 18, 2018.
Surviving are two sons: Jonathan D. Feather and wife, Melissa, of King and David C. Feather of Altoona; two stepchildren: Judy A. Beam and husband, Robert and Michael J. Black and wife, Vesta, all of Altoona; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; a brother, Jay Medasie and wife, Elaine, of Claysburg; and a sister, Jean A. Bressler and husband, Earl, of Tyrone.
Jane was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and served in the Women’s Army Corps in New York City after high school. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, Duncansville and was employed as a waitress at various restaurants in the area.
She volunteered at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center and enjoyed bowling, traveling and reading.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at New Hope Baptist Church, 276 Maple Hollow Road, Duncansville, Pastor Matthew Smart officiating. Interment will be at St. Mark’s Cemetery, King.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to her church.
