Janice Louise Sell

Janice Louise(Owens) Sell, 56, of Roaring Spring, passed away Monday May 10, 2021 at UPMC-Altoona. She was born November 21, 1964 in Clearfield, daughter of the late Clarence Owens and Betty (Amon) Owens-Libreatori. She married Craig Sell on January 5, 1991 in Clearfield.

Surviving is her husband, a daughter Karinn Gartmann and husband Michael of Roaring Spring, 2 grandsons Dax and Holden Gartmann, a brother Stanley “Butch” Owens and wife Ressa of Beech Creek and a sister Carole Karchner and husband Rick of Clearfield.

Janice attended the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. She was a 1982 graduate of Clearfield High School, a 1986 graduate of Tocoa Falls Christian College and received her Master’s Degree in 2017 from Liberty College. She was employed as a behavioral health specialist at Altoona Behavioral Health for the past 4 years.

Janice enjoyed knitting, wiener dogs, second hand shopping, Bible study, singing and spending time with her grandsons.

There is no such thing as too much bling. Second-hand stores are always worth the detour. Never trust someone who doesn’t like dogs. Coffee has to have 3 creams.  A fabulous outfit can elevate the worst of days, and if you needed an honest opinion, she was your girl. 

Janice loved fiercely all those who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend. Her grandsons were her whole world, her daughter was her pride and joy, and no one ever loved a man more than Janice loved Craig Sell. 

Cancer may have shortened her time on this earth, but her life will continue to be lived out through stories of her immeasurable generosity, her infectious wit and sense of humor, and her unapologetic boldness for Christ.  

Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. Friday May 14, 2021 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 Saturday May 15, 2021 at Eden Cemetery, Shawville, with Pastor David Ulm officiating.
