JEAN LOUISE (ROUDABUSH) GORDON
Jean Gordon, daughter of late Rose and Lester Roudabush, of Claysburg, PA passed away January 1, 2023 at the age of 93. Jean was proceeded in death by her late husband, Robert (Bob) Paul Gordon. She is survived by daughters, Crystal Gilchrist and Cindy John, five grandsons, and 10 great grandchildren.
Jean Roudabush was born May 5, 1929 and graduated from Greenfield-Kimmel High School in 1947. She was a majorette and cheerleader, and met the love of her life acting together in the school play. She and Bob soon married and followed Bob’s baseball career out west and in the Army at Fort Meade, Md. Jean always worked, beginning at her uncle’s grocery store as a young girl. She worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore during the Korean War; back home she was a Kindergarten aide, head cashier for Quaker Markets, and K-Mart foods, and was a hospital and home health aide.
Jean was an original member of the Claysburg Area Community Chorus and Theater, performing in more than 40 stage productions, with roles including Aunt Eller, in Oklahoma and Mae Peterson, in Bye, Bye Birdie. Jean helped organize the first homecoming for the Claysburg-Kimmel School District. Jean and Bob were inducted into the Claysburg Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed playing music with Bob, DJ’ing, dancing, fishing in Canada, and spending time with her family.
Jean is best known for her raven black hair, her beautiful singing voice, her radiant smile, and her ability to make others laugh. The night sky will be a little brighter with Jean’s extra abundance of stardust now added to the firmament.
A memorial service will be held on May 13, 2023, at the Claysburg Community Park, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. At that time, a dedication of a Music Garden will take place, with the installation of the first two instruments, in loving memory of Bob and Jean Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to your favorite charity in the Claysburg community.
