Karen V. Stombaugh

Karen V. Stombaugh, 76, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Blue Knob, passed away Saturday February 6, 2021 at UPMC-Altoona. She was born March 7, 1944 in Altoona, daughter of the late James Sr. and Grace (McDowell) Vaughn. She married Alvin R. Stombaugh on January 8, 1972 in Altoona. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2021.

Surviving are her children Heather O’Rourke and husband Jim of Martinsburg, Cheryl Gouker and husband Ed of Reading, Mark and wife Naneth in Texas and Brian and wife Rosemarie in Florida, and grandchildren Kyle and Julie Weber, Garrett, Jared, Annamarie and Andrew Stombaugh and Colin O’Rourke. She was preceded in death by a brother James Vaughn Jr.

Karen was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ. She was a 1962 graduate of Altoona Area High School and the LPN program at Altoona School of Nursing. She was employed at Bell Telephone for 7 years before becoming a fulltime homemaker.
