Mary “Wege” E. Smith

Mary E. “Wege” Smith, 80, of Duncansville, passed away Saturday September 10, 2022 at home. She was born July 20, 1942 in Friendsville, MD, daughter of the late Samuel and Verna (Friend) Friend. She married James M. Smith on November 3, 1962 in East Freedom. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2005. 

Surviving are two sons Jeffrey Smith and Rodney (Malia) Smith, both of Newry, three grandchildren Aaron, Adam and Addison, two sisters Erma (Cobe) Wohler and Janet Brady and a brother Jerry (Patty) Friend. She was preceded in death by three brothers Robert, Charles “Chuck” and Samuel Friend and two sisters Katherine Dennis and Ruth Cunningham.

Mary was a 1960 graduate of Northern High School, Accident, MD. She was a member of Newry Lutheran Church and trusted the Lord. 

Mary was a homemaker and loved her family.

Friends will be received from 5-8 P.M. Friday September 16, 2022 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 17, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Amanda McCaffery officiating. Interment at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
