Raymond “Roger” Snowberger, 85, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of East Freedom, passed away Friday December 18, 2020 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born March 18, 1935 in East Freedom, son of the late Raymond L. and Grace (Mosser) Snowberger. He married Mabel L. Glass on November 28, 1959.
Surviving are his wife, 5 children Timothy P. Snowberger (Terry) of Osterburg, Diana K. Hanlon (Michael) of Bedford, Sandra M. Augustine (Brian) of East Freedom, Randall R. Snowberger (Tammy) of Altoona and David A. Snowberger (Angie) of Greensburg, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Helsel and 2 brothers Edward and Grant Snowberger.
Roger was a 1956 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 – 1959. He retired from SKF and was also a self-employed excavating contractor.
Roger enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada, hunting, mowing grass and gardening. He was a charter member of Freedom Township Fire Company, where he served as the first vice president and one of the first assistant chiefs.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be given in Roger’s memory to the Freedom Township Fire Company.
