Richard C. Dively, 83, of Claysburg, passed away Tuesday December 27, 2022 at home after battling cancer since January 2022. He was born February 9, 1939 in Claysburg, son of the late Irvin “Sadie” and Nellie Dively. He married Carol Lee Fowler on May 25, 1963.
Surviving is his wife, 3 daughters Ronda Dively of East Freedom, Melissa Lash (Bill) of Warriors Mark and Danelle Dively of Lemont, grandchildren Jarred (Cynthia) Dively, William, Zachary, and Christopher Lash. He was preceded in death by sisters Jean Markley and Kathryn McCaulley, and brothers Charles Paul and Robert Dively.
Dick was a 1957 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired as the purchasing agent from Champion Homes.
Dick was a member of the Claysburg United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was a member of Altoona-Johnstown Tres Dias. He made mission trips helping with rebuilding and recovery after natural disasters. He also had a place in his heart for the people of Brazil, which he visited to share the gospel. He also helped facilitate clean well water in Malawi, Africa. Dick and Carol also were foster parents for over 10 years, opening their home to many teenagers.
Friends will be received from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Friday December 30 at the Claysburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating.
