Robert Claar, 93, of Duncansville, passed away Saturday February 15, 2020 at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1926, in Klahr, son of the late Ralph and Della (Claar) Claar. He married Eleanor Ruth Musselman on July 31, 1945 in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving are his wife of Duncansville, two daughters Carol Kinsey and husband Ronald of Mohrsville and Donna Weyant and husband Richard of King, a son R. Brian Claar and wife Elaine of Camp Hill, three grandsons and one granddaughter and one great grandson and four great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by three brothers Emerson, Taylor and Curtis Claar and four sisters Stella Stern, Florence Musselman, Edna Claycomb and Mary Ayers.
Bob was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea and was a member of the American Legion.
He retired as a mechanic from Furmatic Machine Company, McKees Rocks in 1998 and was previously employed at General Refractories and Zeigler Chevrolet.
Bob enjoyed hunting, woodworking and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday February 20, 2020 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren with Pastor David Maxwell officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
