Robert "Bob" Whysong Arrrangement

Robert W. Whysong, 94, of Imler, passed away, Monday January 4, 2021 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. He was born February 14, 1926, in Pavia, son of the late Reuben and Bessie (Lamburn) Whysong. He married Della “Sis” Claar on May 15, 1954.

 

 

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, adopted daughter Connie Lynn Ickes, a sister Shelda wife of the late Robert Yantz of Lancaster and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother H. Dean Whysong and nephews Larry Whysong and Allen Yantz.

 

 

Mr. Whysong owned and operated Bob’s Used Cars in Duncansville since 1952 and had a great appreciation for antique automobiles.

 

 

Bob was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Church in Pavia. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of the Claysburg American Legion Post 522. He was also a member of Woodbury Lodge 539, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Jaffa Shrine, Altoona and served as a board member of Central Bank from 1976-2000.

 

 

He was a loving and wonderful husband and a very kindhearted man who never met a stranger and was blessed with many friends.

 

 

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family and we ask those in attendance to follow CDC guidelines by wearing a mask and social distancing.

 

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Mt. Zion Church, Pavia.
