Robert “Dean” Musselman, 74, of Claysburg, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at home. He was born September 30, 1944 in Johnstown, son of the late Elmer and Ethel (Bowser) Musselman. He married Sharon Blazevich on March 6, 1965 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter Lisa Helsel and husband John, a son Lowell Musselman, three grandchildren Layton “RJ” Helsel and Seth and Harley Musselman all of Claysburg, a sister Norma Jean Haney of Williamsburg and two special nieces Nelda Hazlett and Lois Yoder. He was preceded in death by two sisters Mary Catherine Musselman and F. Maud Hengst and husband Elmer, a brother Dorsey Musselman and wife Ethel and his mother in law Annie Blazevich.
Dean was a 1962 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He was an independent truck driver for over 40 years driving for Motor Freight, Mawson and Mawson, and Jones Transportation. After his retirement in 2008, he began driving for Sheetz, driving flag car for Penn Stress and driving cars for Zeigler Chevrolet.
Dean was a member of the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, going to Rex Whetstone’s Breakfast Club and then going to Jody Claar’s Garage.
Dean loved spending time with his grandchildren and never missed one of their sporting events.
Friends will be received on Friday July 5, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral service at the funeral home, with Brother Joe Musselman officiating. Interment at Lower Claar Cemetery.
