Rodger Dean Helsel, Jr., 42, of Flinton, formerly of Imler, passed away January 31, 2024 at home. He was born in Roaring Spring on June 23, 1981 to Rodger Dean Helsel, Sr. and Diane “Dee” (Baughman) Miller.



He was preceded in death by his grandparents Pete and Violet Helsel and Bill and Marjorie Baughman.



He is survived by his parents Rodger (Lori) of Imler and Dee (Charlie) of Osterburg, life long partner Kristi McElheny of Flinton, daughter Cassidi Helsel (Gary Shope II) of Cresson, brother Joseph Helsel, Sr. sisters Jackie Helsel of Imler, Ciera Hart of Roaring Spring and Amorette Miller of Bedford, Special uncle Charlie Helsel of Hollidaysburg and special friend Daniel Kreigline of Hyndman.



Rodger enjoyed spending time with his family, truck driving, working on cars with his daughter, hunting, fishing, farming, and going to gun-shoots. He was a truck driver for most of his life, and worked the last 5 years at Ollinger Bros. in Altoona.



He was a former member of the American British White Park Association.



Rodger was always willing to help everyone, when needed, and had a great sense of humor, always making everyone laugh. Rodger will truly be missed.



Friends will be received from 1:30 P.M. until the 2:30 P.M. celebration of life service on Sunday March 3, 2024 at the East Freedom Firehall with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Following the service, a light meal and refreshments will be available.



A donation box will be available to assist with the costs of his estate.
