Ronnie A. Walter

September 27, 1954 ~ August 31, 2022 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Ronnie Walter Arrrangement

On August 31, 2022, Ronnie (Ronald A) Walter headed off to that great Train Show in the sky.  Ronnie was born in Claysburg, on September 27, 1954 to Juniata and Clair Walter, who have both been waiting to greet him in heaven. He will be sadly missed by his only brother, Beaver Walter, his sister-in-law Cathy and three loving nieces, Allison (20), Emily (22) and Andrea Plouse (41); as well as a host of cousins and dear friends.

Ronnie worked for over 40 years at Zeigler’s Chevrolet in Claysburg as a master mechanic.  His passion for cars went far beyond being just a job.  He especially loved classic cars and was a long-time member of the Monday Night Car Club. He enjoyed going to car shows and was able to identify every make and model at a glance.

He also loved the mechanics of cars and spent many weekends building motors and working in the pits at Jennerstown with his favorite race car drivers. He celebrated many victories as crew chief for the #3 car – winning the season in 1993. Even after he quit working on pit crews he loved watching races as much as he liked being part of the action.

For many years Ronnie loved to search for hidden treasures at flea markets and yard sales. After retiring from Zeigler’s, he spent many happy hours buying and selling all sorts of things. He was a regular at local sales and his big blue van with “Polecat Picker” emblazoned on the side was well known in Claysburg.

His absolute favorite hobby was trains – mostly Lionel – collecting, fixing and running them. His vacations were spent at train shows and for many years he repaired trains for Jim’s Train shop in Homer City.

No matter where he went, car shows, train shows, or flea markets; it was certain that Ronnie would make friends. He was a natural story teller and his stories brought smiles to all who would listen. Ronnie will be dearly missed by all, but his stories and memories will live on for years.
