Samuel "Sam" Ritchey Arrrangement

Samuel D. Ritchey  8/23/1935 – 5/3/2023

Sam, 87, of Blue Knob entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday. Where he was undoubtedly greeted by his loving wife, Dot and special grandson Ryan who preceded him in death. Sam was the last living sibling of a large family which he took tremendous pride in. He was a kind and gentle soul who married the love of his life, Dorothy Hughes, on May 9, 1958. Together they raised and are survived by 5 devoted children (Spouses): Luke (Sherry), Sharon (Craig Thompson), Deb (Brian Claar), Kelly and Boomer. In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones, Sam is also survived by 3 grandsons (Cort, Derrick & Zach), 3 granddaughters (Jess, Jenn & Sara) and 1 great grandson (Brock) with another due in July, who will proudly be given his name!

Sam’s wholesome nature, righteous spirit and genuine personality made him an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He always told us “If I ever lose my sense of humor, just shoot me” and up to the end, we never had to even consider this – lol. He was truly the most incredible, amazing husband, provider, father, grandfather and friend anyone could ever hope for!

Sam’s working years were spent being the best “furnace fixer” with Martin Oil. Following retirement, he spent his time enjoying life with family, friends and his pets. He had an admirable fondness for all living things, especially animals, and it was evident by the strays he welcomed in over the years.

Though comforted in knowing he lived a full, happy and relatively healthy life, his departure has left an unmeasurable void in our hearts that will be present throughout our remaining time on this earth until we all meet again.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday May 7, 2023 at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Friends and family will be received for 2 hours prior to the service.
