Thelma P. Johnstone, 87, of Claysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 8, 2021 at Nason Hospital. She was born June 28, 1934 in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Russell and Jennie (Burket) Ritchey. She married Richard S. Johnstone on February 14, 1956 in Leamersville and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters Denise Dodson of Hollidaysburg and Thea Aungst of Claysburg, four grandchildren Drew Dodson of Hollidaysburg, MacKenzie Kristiniak of State College, Morgan Claar of Claysburg and Brent Claar of Claysburg, a great granddaughter Leona Kristiniak and a sister Annabelle Stiffler of Claysburg. She was preceded in death by three brothers Burle, Roy and Bud Ritchey and five sisters Naomi Hoenstine, Marie French, Betty Nycum, Pauline Miller and Dorothy Crissman.
Thelma was a member of the Claysburg Bible Church, where she spent many hours of service helping in every way needed.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Thelma enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting others for dinner, as well as taking care of her home and yard. She had a special passion for growing and tending to flowers and plants.
She loved spending time with her family and always welcomed people into her home.
Friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. on Friday November 12, 2021 at the Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, PA 16655. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday November 13, 2021 at the church with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
