Thomas D. Miller, 79, of Duncansville, passed away Friday August 25, 2023 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born September 7, 1943 in Altoona, son of the late John W. and Adaline C. (Reed) Miller. He married Glenna Yeckley on June 11, 1966 in Duncansville.
Surviving is his wife, five children Holly Moyer (Ed), Valerie McDowell (George), Greg Miller (Autumn), Dustin Winegardner (Barb) and Christy Bucy (Stephen), 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a sister Darlene Wilson. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers William, Terry, and John Miller.
Thomas was a 1964 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired as Blair Township Chief of Police in 2007 after 33 years of law enforcement in Blair County, serving in the Duncansville Borough and Blair Township Police Departments. He also was employed for 10 years as a welder at Conrail.
Tom was a member of the Puzzletown Road Bible Church, where he was active in church activities, and enjoyed going on Mission Trips to South America and Africa.
Tom served as Treasurer of the Blair County Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Foundation. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing, especially at his cabin in Canada.
Friends will be received from 6-9 P.M. on Tuesday August 29, 2023 at the Puzzletown Road Bible Church, 316 Puzzletown Road, Duncansville, PA 16635 and from 9 A.M. until the 10:00 A.M. funeral service on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at the church with Pastors Jon Gross and Greg Miller officiating. Interment at Dry Run Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Puzzletown Road Bible Church Missions Fund.
